ADRG Charts on CDROM The CD's that CASARA has received are the ARC2 (1:250,000  Topo charts) and ARC5 (1:500,000  VNC) series.. They are in ADRG format, which requires special software in order to use them.

Fugawi offers an excellent ADRG Viewer program, but it does not allow printing.

To convert digital maps from ADRG format to more familiar commercial formats, requires a S/W application from NIMA. It can be used to extract any area of interest into a file (e.g. JPG, TIFF, BMP, ArcView). The ArcView format specifically, is the one which can then be imported into OziExplorer (already calibrated!) .

Please visit the NIMA site, get registered (free), and download NIMAMUSE 2.1 "Raster Importer 2.1.3"
(If unavailable here, please download this archive of  NIMAMUSE2.1).

You can then refer to the following documents for extraction and importing instructions:
"How to Use NimaMuse2.doc"  and  "Importing ADRG1.ppt" (created by Al King and Greg Ursel, colleagues out west)

Microsoft Office 2000 To serve the broadest CASARA membership possible and reduce the need for upgrading, all documents spreadsheets and databases should be created in (or saved as) MS Office 2000.
Licenced copies of MS Office 2000 are available to members. Please contact your local unit director
WinZip For extracting ZIP files, download the evaluation version of WinZip from http://www.winzip.com/
